FAQ's

Is it actually raw meat?

No - biltong is not raw. It’s a traditional air-dried meat that’s been cured with salt and vinegar, then slowly dried to preserve it naturally.

This process makes it safe to eat, shelf-stable, and rich in protein, without the need for cooking or artificial preservatives.

How do I store my biltong?

Biltong is a naturally preserved meat that can be stored for extended periods without refrigeration. For best results, keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Once opened, we recommend refrigerating your biltong to maintain freshness and consuming it within 10 days.

Do not consume the oxygen absorber pouch.

What's the difference between Biltong and Jerky?

Biltong and jerky are both dried meat snacks, but they’re made very differently.

Biltong is cured with vinegar and salt, then air-dried slowly, resulting in a more tender texture and richer, more natural flavour.

Jerky is typically cooked or heat-dried, often with added sugars and marinades, giving it a firmer, chewier bite.

Is Naked Biltong actually healthy?

Yes, biltong is a healthy snack option. It is a protein-rich food, made today from only the finest Australian beef while staying true to its traditional African recipe. Its simple, natural curing process using vinegar and salt makes it a wholesome and nutritious choice.
